cos-play photo database
so as you know i went to c2e2 a couple of weeks ago. and as you know i put pictures of my adventures at the con on my flickr page. well i was contacted by a person who has a website that links bunches of different peoples pictures of cos-playing. and this person wanted to add my pictures from c2e2. i was delighted and agreed. so you now can find my pictures along side other peoples pictures from c2e2. here's the link to the website. your going to have to scroll down to chicago comic entertainment expo (c2e2) it is alphabetical. my pictures are under the name little_egan. but please check out all the other photos that are listed from that weekend. there are some great ones. some very professional photos too. i love seeing all the cos-playing that people do. hope you enjoy the database.

the good hearted people of the world
with the bombing at the boston marathon this week, there has been an out pouring of good heartedness all over america (and really there is this good heartedness all over the world). any time there is a tragedy, together we as a people stand up and say no. that we are one and we will get through all of this. oklahoma city bombing, columbine hs shooting, 9/11, boston marathon bombing to name a few. after all of these tragedies we have come together as a country and said we love each other and we will stand by each other.
with this in mind i thought i would share the different website/groups that are of this same mind. all of these groups share that same warm fuzzy feeling of people standing together and saying we are one. we love each other. you are not alone.
-RAINN - (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.
-project unbreakable - The mission of Project Unbreakable is to increase awareness of the issues surrounding sexual assault and encourage the act of healing through art.
-more love letters - We’re going to tell you that we write and mail love letters, handwritten love letters, to strangers in need all over the world.
-post secret - PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.
-soldiers' angels - soldier's angels works around the world to address military-related needs ranging from deployed support, to wounded care, to remembrance of the fallen and a wide variety assistance to military families.
-live through this - Live Through This is a collection of portraits and stories of suicide attempt survivors, as told by those survivors. It strips the issue of anonymity and encourages survivors to own their experiences publicly and proudly.
(i'm sure there are many more sites out there that i haven't mentioned. these are just a few that i know of.)
and as a last thought, i thought i would share the national anthem that was song at the first boston bruins (the nhl team in boston) game after the boston marathon bombing. it just sends chills down your back when you see/hear this! again just another reason i am proud to be an NHL fan. :)

#
i was at my mom's Superbowel party on sunday and my cousin told me a disturbing story. My cousin is a junior in high school and she said in her math class the teacher used the # sign. A student proceeded to ask her why she used the hashtag sign. the teacher explained to the kid that it wasn't the hashtag that it was the number symbol. i couldn't believe it when my cousin told me that. i was speechless. it just shows how much kids are on twitter. and how much social media is part of our society now. and how kids are today. sorry i just had to rant a little bit about that.

project unbreakable
in my ever searching of the interwebs, i came across this site. i just knew i had to share it with everyone out there. the site is called project unbreakable and it is a site for survivors of sexual assault. here's the description of the site from the site: ''Project Unbreakable was created in October of 2011 by Grace Brown. Grace
works with survivors of sexual assault, photographing them holding a
poster with a quote from their attacker. Grace has photographed over two
hundred people and has received over a thousand submissions. TIME
magazine has also named it one of the top 30 Tumblr blogs to follow.''
there are a couple things i find amazing about this site. that people are so strong and can share what happened to them. that they are survivors and not victims. that there are men and women on this site sharing what happened to them.
strength to all the people who have been photographed for this site.
there is a way to support grace and her works with this site. go to the project unbreakable store and you can get a wristband. on the wristband it says: project unbreakable-the art of healing. all proceeds go back to project unbreakable for travel and other expenses. i've bought mine and i'm just waiting for it in the mail.

things and stuff
hey everyone. sorry it's been so long since i've written. i do apologize. things have been a little crazy for me. i will do my best to update much more often, like the old days. hehe.
i must write about dragon con a little bit. it was awesome as always. this was my second year going and i have no thoughts of stopping. there were some awesome costumes (as always). this year one of the guests of honor was RA Salvatore! sadly i didn't get to meet him, i tried but the line was too long and i never made it. but i did get to see him up close and personal. i did something new this year, i went to the walk of fame. which is where the celebrities go and you can get their signatures. saw katee sakof, jonathan franks, levar burton, michael dorn and felica day (just to name a few). i didn't get any of their signatures but, i did get lou ferigno's. if you don't know who he is, he played the hulk for the tv series. he is huge! and he was very nice to me. last year i had gone to his panel and he was so positive i couldn't help but like him. so i just had to get his signature this year. i made some new friends this year. so that was cool. and thanks to twitter, i get to stalk them. hehe. no one wanted to take my picture because of anything i was wearing, but at the Ta'veren tee's booth (wheel of time), they took a picture of my two wheel of time tattoos. that was pretty awesome. the girl recognized matt's saying on my arm right away and asked to take a photo. then when she was done i showed her my neck tattoo and she asked to take a photo of that. so that made me smile really big and feel all cool. so over all, dragon con was tons of fun! go to my flickr page and you'll see all the pictures i have.
so i posted about being on twitter and instagram now. yeah i'm addicted now. i check it all the time. i've already posted on twitter over 200 times. hehe. whats cool is when people i don't even know follow me on there. makes me feel like what i have to say is important. i know it's really not, but it makes me feel that way.
the wheel of time's a memory of light prologue came out for everyone to read. you had to pay like 4 bucks, but you could read it in full if you wanted. so of course(!) i did. it rocked! i can't wait until the book comes out. i'm really sad it comes out the day AFTER my birthday, jan 8th 2013. but, you better believe i will be buying it on 1/8. i actually might take the day off so i can read it all day. that may seem silly to you, but i wouldn't be able to handle working when i could being reading that book. that is how much i love those books. i can't believe they are coming to an end. i love the books so much, two of my tattoos are from the series (as mentioned above). i'm debating whether i should pre order it or not, i've never done that. so i don't know. but i WILL have that book. hehe.
cubs sucked this year. bears are rocking it. sadly i have nothing to say about hockey for they are locked out. and i don't think we will have a hockey season at all. so i'm going to go to a college hockey game at soldier field. notre dame, wisconsin, minnesota and miami ohio are going to be playing. so that should be fun. all of those school's have a history of having good teams. at least i'll get some kind of hockey. and i get to go to soldier field. i haven't been to it since i was like 8. so i'm excited for that. but sadly that game isn't until February.
well that's all for now. i will do my best to update more often.

ERROR 451: This Page Has Been Burned
i was reading on the comic book leagal of defense fund (CBLDF) website, how error 451 has been created for the interenet. here's what the article had to say:
It’s just another average day of internet browsing. You’re doing your thing, checking the news, maybe taking a detour to your favorite webcomic. Then, WHAM (or rather, the internet version of said sound effect).
ERROR 451.
What happened? Did the servers overload? Did the connection crash? Is the address wrong?
No; this page has been burned.
Error 451 is a new HTTP Error status code proposed by Google developer advocate Tim Bray. The code would pop up the same way an Error 404 code does — except instead of being told a page could not be found, a viewer would be informed that the site is being censored.
The number is an homage to Ray Bradbury‘s Fahrenheit 451, which takes place in a dystopian future in which firemen burn books because the government has declared reading illegal.
According to Wired’s WebMonkey blog, the biggest advantage of the 451 code is that it would explain why content is unavailable — such as which legal authority is imposing the restriction. This would let visitors know that the government, not the Internet Service Provider, is the reason for the page’s malfunction. Currently, 403 errors are most often used when blocking access to censored pages.
Error code 451 would pop up in situations such as the Indian government’s censorship of the site Cartoonists Against Corruption, which was blocked because its critique of the government was deemed “defamatory and derogatory.”
The biggest problem with the code, Bray admits, is that many governments are not fond of the idea of transparent censorship. So, if we’re lucky — or not? — this code may be popping up in our browsers in the future.

watch out for the thorns
so as i said in my post my weekend i hid a letterbox in wisconsin. well excitingly 2 people have post that they have found my letterbox. one posted on letterboxing north america website and the other posted on the atlas quest website. i made sure i put the clue for my letterbox on both sites for some people only go to one; and i want to reach as many people as possible. i didn't think to take pictures of where i hid my letterbox (shocking i know for i take photos of everything) but the next time i go to my dads, i'll take some photos and share it with everyone here. i hope more people find it! it is so exciting to get a message saying someone has found it. hehe

websites
so i've found 2 new websites that i just wanted to share with everyone. the first website is called failblog. it's got pictures of a whole bunch of different things that people have failed at. for example tattoos, clothes people wear and engrish. it's funny and addicting. the second website is called i found your camera. it's a website where people post pictures from a camera/jump drive they have found and want to return to the rightful owner. people will post one or two photos from the memory card and then if it's yours, you can contact them and they will send the camera/jump drive back to you. i have recently lost one of my jump drives and so i hope that whoever finds it will post it on this website.

year 26
so my cousin on her website, did a list of things she wants to accomplish for the year. and i think i'm going to follow her stead and list that for myself. since i'll be 26 tomorrow, these are things that i want to do for the year of me being 26.
get out more. i have an issue of staying home and not going out when i'm invited. i need to take the first step and go places. i need to be a little more adventurous.
not buy any new books. along the lines of needing to save money, i need to just read the books i have, get from the library or get as a gift. i have tons of books at home and plenty of them i haven't read yet. and even those i have read, i can read them again.
save money. to go with what i said above, i need to conserve my money. i have a bunch of bills that need to be taken care of before i can do some of the fun stuff i want to do. so i need to save my money much better then i have been doing.
go back to school. i need to go back to school. that's all there is to it.
write more. i haven't been writing too much lately. i should be writing much more often. though i haven't been inspired, still i should take writing by the horns and wrestle it down. or at least brainstorm more often. hehe.
be truthful. i'm going to come out and say it, i have a lying problem. and i need to be more truthful, not only with myself, but with the people around me.
new job. my job is fine, but it is no where near the field i want to have my career in. i want to be a therapist, and working at a call center doesn't really get close to that.
family. get closer to my family. or at least talk to them more then i do now. like using skype to talk to those who are far away.
go back to doing my hobbies. i need to get back into doing my hobbies more. i haven't done photography in a long time and i use to love doing it. i need to go back to practicing my saxophone. i miss having music in my life. scrapbooking. it's been a long time since i've done that.
learn new things. i want to learn new things such as: sewing (more then just fixing small holes).
cook more often. i kinda cook right now. i'm getting into it, but i want to do it much more often. i want to try to cook things i would never have thought to cook before. such as sheperads pie. i really want to make that. it sounds so good.
explore the city. i have lived in chicago for about 9 months now and i really haven't explored the city. i've only gone to parts that i've already known about. whether it's going to jazz clubs with my roommate, going to new resturants, going to any of the smaller museums, going to historical sites in the city.
hang out with my friends more. i need to hang out with my friends more often. or at least talk to them more. i've kinda shut myself off from everyone. i want to rekindle all my friendships. sorry everyone that i've done that to.

to be or not to be - that is the question
on the website http://shirt.woot.com/ they have a new t-shirt every day that you can buy. well the other day they had a shakespeare t-shirt. here's the link for the t-shirt. but the discription with the t-shirt is so amazing, i just have to share it. and i have to say the tshirt is awesome! i wish i had it.
''Man, they try to ban death metal but they happily teach this play in schools? What’s wrong with people? For real, a guy from Denmark sent to murder his stepfather by a ghost? A girlfriend who kills herself for reasons she doesn’t particularly want to share? Set this in Arkansas and the local D&D club’s going to jail, but bury it between the story of two underage Italian lovers and a tale of killing a legitimate head of state and suddenly, it’s okay! It’s a classic! Everybody have the first twenty pages finished by Friday for the pop quiz! Stuff like Hamlet really drives home two major points. One, if “the powers that be” really wanted to make rap uninteresting to kids, they’d teach Jay-Z and Eminem in schools. And two, popular media has been all about sex and murder since the very first caveman killed a guy and hooked up with his widow. So take the lesson to heart, young writers. If you want to tell the story of some depressed semi-incestuous lunatics and their terrible terrible lives, don’t set it in a trailer park like they do on television. Set it in a castle and make them all spout poetry! And it’ll be hailed as the most mature thing you ever did!''
