go cubs go!

today is opening day for the cubs. dempster is pitching. we shall see what kind of season this will be. it's a rebuilding year (isn't every year?). i say we will at least hit 500. i know that's probably too hopeful, but you never know. hey i'm a cubs fan - forever optimistic.

there was a comic on 4/1 that had a cubs fan wearing a jersey, saying 'this is our year for sure!' a girl pointed to his jersey and said 'i get it. april fool! right?' the cubs fan hung his head and said 'no...'.

4/8 edit: so i heard this story from a friend of mine and thought i would share it with everyone. i guess bill murray was at the cubs opening day game. and he's a huge dempster fan. so he signed a ball for him and dempster was given the ball. well dempster didn't realize the ball was signed and pitched with it in the beginning of the game. well a rookie came up to back and got his first hit ever. so of course he wanted the ball. well when he was in the dugout looking at the ball, he noticed that it was signed to dempster. way to pay attention dempster! as far as i know, dempster wasn't given the ball back. guess bill murray will have to sign another one for him.
